Mercure Sydney - Vivid Sydney 2025

Vivid Sydney is back! From 23 May to 14 June 2025, Sydney will transform into a vibrant canvas of light, music, and ideas, celebrating the theme “Vivid Sydney, Dream.”

This year’s festival invites you to explore the boundless realms of imagination, with awe-inspiring art installations, 3D light projections, and live performances that transcend boundaries. The full program will be unveiled in mid-March 2025, promising a lineup that will ignite your senses and inspire your dreams.

Here are a list of a few stand out events you shouldn’t miss:

Fly to the moon – Barangaroo Reserve

 Fly to the Moon invites you to bask in its luminous glow and step into a moment of pure whimsy and play. Before you looms a giant inflatable moon, its circular form glowing softly against the night sky. A swing is positioned in front of it, inviting you to gently swing, becoming the “man in the moon” for a fleeting moment.

The Cloud Swing – Darling Quarter Village Green

A cluster of glowing, cloud-like structures appear as if floating in Darling Quarter Village Green. First exhibited at Burning Man in 2019, this is a magical mirage lifted straight from the Nevada desert. Drift over to The Cloud Swing and experience a moment of escapism and delight as you take a seat on a swing below a large, fantastical and illuminated puff of white.

Colour The City – ASN Clock Tower

Paint our town red… green, pink, blue or whatever colour or pattern you dare to dream up! The ASN Clock Tower is transformed into a canvas for us all with this interactive and community-made projection. Download the colouring page template, unleash your artistic vision and then see your work projected during Vivid Sydney 2025.

Entertwine – Tumbalong Boulevard

Entwine brings this idea to life through three glowing, suspended circles, interlinked to symbolise the power of our imagination to forge new connections. Each levitating disc features over 168 meticulously arranged LED tubes, pulsing with light in gentle glimmers or sudden bursts. The shifting patterns mirror the unpredictability of dreams and the hidden depths of human emotion. A layered soundscape, featuring dreamlike tones and modular synthesisers, adds another dimension, immersing you in a full sensory experience.

Fantasmagoria – Bond Building

A book is more than words on a page—it’s a gateway to other worlds, a way of dreaming while awake. Stand before Fantasmagoria and watch as the pages of a fantastical story come alive, celebrating the beauty, power and transportive nature of dreams, reading and storytelling. Follow the journey of a little girl as she’s drawn into a swirling vortex at the heart of a book. Her adventure unfolds across lush forests, vast deserts and glittering, icy landscapes, as she encounters wild and wonderful creatures along the way.

Bloom – Argyle Cut

Step into the Argyle Cut tunnel, transformed into a dreamscape, where the natural world blossoms in a riot of colour and sound. Stars, fungi, birds and bioluminescent plants from around the world burst through the passageway above and around you, creating an evolving, trance-like display of flora, fauna and the night sky. A dynamic soundscape, built from field recordings of water droplets, exploding spores and other amplified sounds of nature, ebbs and flows, adding to the meditative atmosphere.
